Letter from the CEO —
A Case of
Mistaken Identity
GDCA is in a unique position. Although we sell legacy embedded boards, we are not an aftermarket distributor. We do resolve issues with “obsolete” components, but we’re not a component supplier. Though we provide sustaining engineering solutions, we are not a contract manufacturer or an engineering boutique. Our role has historically been that of a stand-in for embedded original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and we have always proudly declared ourselves an OEM.
This is, perhaps, an almost thirty-year case of mistaken identity. Working with several world-class OEMs to support their legacy products, we have witnessed just how perfectly formed they are for their primary mission—to develop quality products that support today’s technology and the future of innovation. And this is not what GDCA does.
Our processes are tailored to address the special needs of embedded products as they age, and we are organized to support the legacy phase of some of the best products offered in the embedded industry. In short, we are not an original equipment manufacturer (OEM); we are a legacy equipment manufacturer (LEM).
As we move the conversation beyond traditional obsolescence management toward legacy management, we bring an expertise of legacy with us that goes beyond the traditional role of an OEM. We are an LEM; when it comes to legacy, everything is different.
Recent News: GDCA is Under Construction
As some of our customers know, GDCA is growing to support our evolving Legacy Solutions suite and PLM+™ capability. As a result, we have expanded our supply chain and quality roles and created a whole new Legacy Engineering Department.
As a result, we would like to introduce you to our new team members, with some of whom you may already be familiar:
Anne Bennedsen brings experience with regulation and compliance to her role as the head of Quality.
In production, Vaughn Willett and Thai Nguyen have joined the team, Vaughn as Production Manager and Thai as our newest Test Engineer.
Many of you already know our Customer Support Manager, Kearry O’Brien. He fearlessly heads the sales team to help ensure our customers’ life cycle need for products is secure.
Because legacy is never far from mind, Arlin Niernberger brings years of engineering experience to his role as head of our new Legacy Engineering Department.
Collaboration remains a critical part of how we work at GDCA, and we are proud to welcome the new team members to our team.
