Wrapping Up 2024 with Tania Scroggie

Tania Scroggie returns in her short YouTube series, Tania’s Teachables, exploring the incredible journey that we’ve been on together this year. In this latest installment, Tania reflects on the various topics she’s covered in legacy sustainment and support. She plans to use this as a foundation for even more exploration into the unique and fascinating subject of legacy electronics in 2025!

Before we review what we’ve learned, Tania would like to thank each and every one of her viewers, readers, and commenters for their engagement and support with each video. This community would be nothing without you, and she can’t wait to take on 2025 with everyone.

Looking Back at 2024

Over the past year, we’ve covered many different topics with Tania, exploring the impact of obsolescence and the importance of supporting legacy products.

We’ve learned to distinguish between obsolescence and legacy sustainment, examining the differences between the two and how important it is to plan for when critical products for your customers become obsolete. We followed the journey of an obsolete product in GDCA, the complications of licensing such a product, and the strategies that GDCA uses to overcome those complications.

As we headed into the summer, we explored the importance of legacy products, how they show the history and legacy of technological innovations, and why it’s so important to protect that legacy. We also examined how supporting legacy products is crucial for improving customer relationships and satisfaction.

When the autumn season approached, Tania got into the holiday spirit. She discussed how obsolescence is the ‘skeleton’ in the corporate closet for Halloween and Dia de los Muertos and expressed her gratitude for her community and all of GDCA’s OEM partners and customers in the season of Thanksgiving.

Together, we’ve examined the importance of ethical decision-making, balancing your goals with customers’ needs, and long-term industry sustainability. We’ve also explored the importance of collaboration in any sort of legacy sustainment to maintain and enrich your products’ ecosystems and provide long-term support for your customers.

Looking Forward to the Future

As we head into the new year, we’re excited to tackle even more interesting topics and challenges in SCRM, legacy products, obsolescence, and legacy sustainment. Tania’s goal is to continue to inspire a conscious effort towards collaboration because as we become more aware of our interconnectedness and the impact that each of our decisions has, the more we can focus on small choices that will have a ripple effect across the supply chain. Freeing up resources for innovation is not a light task; it’s the lifeblood of our industry and, ultimately, the driving force behind a better future for all.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the Tania’s Teachables community. On behalf of Tania and of GDCA, we wish you a fantastic New Year and Happy Holidays, and we can’t wait to see what 2025 brings.
